Ponto d'Orvalho is a transdisciplinary festival open to discussion and environmental action through artistic, social and ecological interventions.
Starting in 2020, Ponto d'Orvalho has come to occupy an important role in Montemor-O-Novo, Central Alentejo, in the relationship between art and ecology and in the implementation of new cultural programming formats in the region.
A catalyst for discussion through artistic, social and ecological practices, Ponto d'Orvalho has thus contributed to the exploration of a new field of learning in the form of a transdisciplinary festival. Fundamental rituals of life, such as eating, walking, listening, slowing down, conviviality, and coexisting, are explored through the unique perspective of each guest artist, scientist, farmer, chef, philosopher, activist, producer and local expert.
The festival unfolds into concerts, performances, workshops, talks, nature walks, dance, culinary experiences, while immersed in the montado alentejano ecosystem. Ponto d'Orvalho invites and cultivates a transgenerational audience that seeks sustainable and regenerative approaches to the environment, region, and local community.
PIONIRA was invited by Ponto d'Orvalho in 2022 to accompany the festival photographically and with interviews - highlighting vital aspects behind the scenes and speaking to various involved actors. Our particular interest lies in the plethora of positions and backgrounds that come together for this special festival.
