* Project text: The long room, with light from both sides, is organized from public to private, between shop window and inner courtyard. A semi-transparent wall and curtains layer the various private zones. Everything was removed from the former kiosk and painted white. Affordable built-in elements follow the given context. As we won‘t be here forever, all the built-in elements can be qui- ckly disassembled and stored away.

01 Why is this project particularly relevant for Pionira?
For some, this space is a fixed workplace, for others it is a temporary accommodation for holding workshops. Industry-re- lated events often leave a formal impression and are not a place where you immediately feel comfortable. We want to change this with different formats in small groups. The room regularly hosts up to 25 people for reading circles, movie nights, cooking sessions or lectures. In this way, we want to connect our Design Bubble better even beyond the professional side.
02 What have you learned from the project? What challenges did you encounter, and how did you solve them?
Apart from the water heater and window installation, we did everything ourselves. The biggest challenge was time. With more time, many design and construction decisions would have been more sustainable. We would have spent more time resear- ching the materials, used different ones or searched for used materials longer.
03 How would you like to build in the future?
Many of our projects are mobile or temporary. Of course, everyone has different ideas about where we want to go. But we agree that in regard to the ecological perspective, the only right decision is to become more permanent in what we do. Away from fast-moving products and in the direction of well thought-out, ecological and long-lasting structures.
